Miner - Mokopane

Introduction

Murray & Roberts Cementation invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Miner General to be placed at Ivan Plats Platreef mine, in Mokopane, Limpopo. The successful candidate will report to the Shift Supervisor. The company will provide remuneration and benefits relevant and appropriate to the position. Preference will be given to Historically Disadvantaged South African (HDSA) candidates. Applications only open to South African Citizens / Permanent Residents.

Job description

The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

• Effective team supervision, planning, organising and control within area of responsibility to achieve daily production, quality and safety targets in line with legal appointment
• Follow surveyors' measurements and plotting in marking the workface in terms of drill holes, dip and direction
• Measures of over and under-break, direction and dip are within servicing parameters set for the specific workplace
• Crews perform their tasks to required standards, deadlines, policies and procedures
• Examine workplaces and declare them safe prior to crews commencing work
• Prioritisation of safety issues
• Competent, motivated and positive team player
• Team and self-understand and comply with M&RC`s policy and procedures, standard and safety protocol
• Proactive risk identification and mitigation in alignment with legal regulations, the client's and M&RC's standards, procedures and policies
• Effective self and team management in alignment with M&RC's values and leadership initiatives

Minimum requirements

Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

• Grade 12 or NQF level 4 equivalent
• Blasting Certificate.
• Valid Medical certificate of Fitness
• Covid-19 Coronavirus Vaccination Certificate [Site Specific]
• Valid First Aid Certificate
• License to supervise or similar supervisory certificate (Planning, Leading, Organising and Control)
• Good verbal and written English communication skills

Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:

• At least 2 years of experience as a miner
• Must have been trained and found competent in an underground trackless mine development
• Resourceful problem solver who can work within agreed parameters
